A recent golf cart accident that claimed the life of a 74-year-old man in The Villages is yet another tragic reminder of the risk associated with the most popular mode of local travel.
The unidentified New York resident was driving a golf cart on Morse Boulevard when he collided with a Mercedes, Villages-News reports. He was ejected from the vehicle, although it was not immediately apparent whether he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
A 62-year-old Villages resident who was driving the car involved in the accident was not injured, according to Villages-News and Click Orlando. She collided with the golf cart, which Click Orlando says was traveling east on a private road before entering the intersection with Morse Boulevard.
The accident comes as local authorities are adding turn lanes to the busiest intersection in The Villages, the intersection of Morse Boulevard and County Road 466.
