Two Villagers facing charges for their roles in separate accidents are asking judges to relax restrictions on their ability to get back behind the wheel.

A golf cart driver charged with DUI manslaughter for a March accident that left a passenger dead is seeking to loosen the driving restrictions placed on him by a court, Villages-News reports. The woman reportedly died after being ejected from a golf cart near Big Cypress Recreation Center.

The driver told police officers that the accident occurred when he swerved to avoid hitting a parked car on San Marino Drive at Santa Clara Circle. The 60-year-old Illinois woman, who was visiting her mother in The Villages, was injured when she struck her head on the pavement below.

Cops arriving on the scene said they spotted a cooler with four empty beer cans, as well as a case of beer. The 58-year-old driver told cops he had consumed three cans of beer before getting behind the wheel and had previously been at a bar.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old Village of Hillsborough woman wants to be able to drive again after she was charged with hit and run for striking a golf cart with her sport utility vehicle, Villages-News reports. The woman, who pleaded not guilty, told cops that she was not aware that the car had made contact with the golf cart.

It is not clear if anyone was injured in the collision. The SUV driver claimed that she has difficulty hearing and must have had her music turned up when the collision occurred. An investigator tracked her down using surveillance footage from the Village of Hillsborough entrance, which showed the SUV pass through shortly before the accident.

A court order currently allows the woman to drive only to and from medical appointments.

Injured in an Accident? Here is What You Should Know

Anyone who has been hurt in a car accident or golf cart crash has the right to seek compensation from those responsible.

The compensation typically available in these cases is meant to help put the injured person back in the financial position that he or she was in before the collision. It generally includes compensation for medical bills and property damage, along with missed wages and any long-term impact on earning capacity.

In the tragic case that a person dies in a car accident, his or her loved ones have the right to seek similar compensation for wrongful death. Although there is no amount of money in the world that can ever replace a family member, compensation can help ease some of the financial stress that often accompanies these tragedies.
